From the new issue Spring 2009 collection is the Mary Frances heavily embellished "BIRDCALL" hard sided convertible clutch handbag. I currently only have one of these on hand. The bag has a beige canvas like base with golden highlights. The bag is heavily embellished front & back with sculptured bead tropical foliage. The front of the bag also sports on the left side a multi petaled fabric & bead posy measuring a dynamic 2 7/8" wide complete with satin appliqued beaded petals. On the upper part of the front of the bag is a smaller floral. I like the sculpted black & white leaves through out the front of the bag (beaded ones on the back) that play off some of the feathers in the bag's centerpiece...the FABULOUS sculpted bird on the left. The bird is an OH MY Mary Frances moment. It is created with an elaborate assortment of beads, mother of pearl shells, faux blister pearls, and an amazing plume of feathers. The strap (which is detachable) is 16" in hang length and is a menagerie of beads and heavy antiqued brass chain mail. The bag closes with a crystal kiss lock in antiqued brass.Lined in creamy caramel silk with a slip pocket. Bird call measures 8.5x5.5x3" deep. Includes a dust bag for easy storage.
Welcome to my new world of highly collectible handbags. One of my other passions, outside of jewelery design , has been handbag design. While I have previously offered my own pieces in ebay & continue to sell my own pieces in a boutique I no longer have the time to dedicate to this passion. I do think it is a lovely complement to the jewelery items I sell for any of you trying to put a "special look" together for that "special event". I have opted to seek out artist inspired, limited edition handbags & silk scarves ( hopefully in Spring ) to accomodate our love for the beautiful & unique wearable treasures in life.
